My Therapy Style
As a therapist, I'm a "straight shooter". I believe that being straight forward with clients about their situations and issues is the most effective approach. I also know that for the truth to be healing and transformational it must be tempered with grace and compassion; much in the same way that God approaches each of us. I work hard to offer this balance to my clients. My two strongest areas of practice are couples work and mens issues. I also enjoy working with step-families and have my own personal experiences to pull from. Some couples come to me for help getting over a rough patch in a mostly-good relationship, while others come with their marriage on the line. Either way, I can help you to understand what's working and not working in your relationship, to learn new skills for handling problems, and rediscover why you fell in love to begin with. You will find me easy to talk to and fair minded with both of you. There is hope, change is possible, don't give up grow up!

My Therapy Style
My therapy style is relational. I believe that change happens in the context of acceptance and grace. I accept my clients right where they are and come alongside them as they walk through pain and problems. I count it a privilege to be allowed into my client's lives, and I respect that privilege. I do not find fault. Rather, together with the client and his family, I look for solutions and practical ways to address the presenting issues. It is my hope and prayer that therapy will invoke lasting and positive change in my clients' lives. In order to do this I listen, confront, and empathize. I engage in creative dialogue and activities designed to encourage the client to see himself and his issues more clearly. It is my hope and prayer that healing happens in therapy between people, between children and their families, between husbands and wives, and between the person and himself. I do my best to honor the sacred trust of listening to each life story and becoming a small part of that story.

I believe we all do things for a reason, even things we don't fully understand or even want to do. I see my role as therapist as helping identify these reasons and the needs they represent. I work with clients to choose better ways of satisfying them. This process starts with grace and is followed by colaboration to discover what is necessary for change. I love to use scriptural principles when appropriate for the client. My overall perspective for counseling is Systems theory and I use Emotion Focused Therapy as a theoretical base for working with couples and relationships

I want my clients to leave sessions with a "game plan" that is specific and applicable to their individual situation. Therapy is a time and money investment, and hard work. Thus, I believe it is important to help clients achieve their goals in a timely and efficient manner. I use humor and relationship with the client as tools in therapy. I have a passion for this work, which has not diminished over many years of practice. I am humbled that my client trust me with their stories, and I love helping clients to discover, or rediscover, their passion!

She is also a Registered Play Therapist as recognized by the National Association for Play Therapy and the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling. She has over 15 years experience in working with children and families in turmoil. She became a licensed counselor in 2008. She specializes in working with children and their families. She is an active member of a church in Rogers, Arkansas. She is also involved with the Arkansas Board of Play Therapy and helps to train others to become play therapists.
I believe in meeting clients where they are. In working with children, this means play. Play is the language of childhood. Play can also help parents to view problems in a new way. Therapy with children can often be fun, but much work is accomplished. Children are often open to possibilities that are difficult for adults to perceive. Nothing is impossible for a child! There is a reason Jesus told us to come to him this way. I consider it a joy to work with children and their families. I believe that family is most important to the emotional well being of children, and children play a crucial part of family well being.

As a Counselor, I would describe myself as non-threatening, but don't let that suggest that I am passive. I take my work very seriously, and see my service as a calling from God and a service to my fellow man. Thus, I am intentional about setting up clear goals, asking the difficult questions, unconvering the uncomfortable, and assisting the client toward relief of their presenting problem(s). My strongest area of practice is working with men, especially adolescents and young adults. The younger the client, the more likely I will involve their family for support.

Coming to see a therapist can be an uncomfortable and scary experience. I have a great deal of respect for my client's pain, their time and their money. I honor their efforts and motivation by providing them the very best and up-to-date treatment possible efficiently and quickly. Sharing in the life of another human being in their growth and struggle is an awesome task and privilege. I am compassionate with both a tender and tough stance as I hold in confidence the depths of people's stories and needs. I strive to be a gracious therapist led by the grace of God. I hope to stimulate my client to reach his/her highest potential, not only to resolve the hurts, but to find new meaning and purpose in life. My first love is working with marriages, couples and families. My goal is to increase the couple's ability to connect and to connect deeply. Couples ache to know and be known by the other without shame or fear. I work to make that happen.
